The 8th season of The Walking Dead, an American post-apocalyptic horror tv set series on AMC, premiered on Oct 22, 2017, and concluded on Apr 15, 2018, consisting of 16 episodes. Developed for tv set past Frank Darabont, the series is based on the eponymous series of comic books past Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. The executive producers are Kirkman, David Alpert, Scott Thousand. Gimple, Greg Nicotero, Tom Luse, and Gale Anne Hurd, with Gimple as showrunner for his 5th and terminal season. The eighth season received mixed reviews from critics. It was nominated for multiple awards and won two, including Best Horror Telly Series for the third consecutive year, at the 44th Saturn Awards.[one]

This flavor adapts material from issues #115–126 of the comic volume series "All Out State of war Part I & 2" and introduces notable comic book character Siddiq (Avi Nash). The season continues the story of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his group of survivors in their fight against Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and the Saviors. Rick, along with Maggie (Lauren Cohan), leading The Hilltop, and King Ezekiel (Khary Payton), leader of The Kingdom, unite forces to start a rebellion against the tyrant leader of the Saviors, initiating a war for the freedom of the communities.[2]

The eighth season features twenty series regulars overall. For this season, Katelyn Nacon, Khary Payton, Steven Ogg, and Pollyanna McIntosh were promoted to series regular status, after previously having recurring roles, while Seth Gilliam and Ross Marquand were added to the opening credits.

Production [edit]

The Walking Expressionless was renewed by AMC for a 16-episode eighth flavour on Oct 16, 2016.[4] Production began on Apr 25, 2017, in Atlanta, Georgia.[5] On July 12, 2017, production was shut downwardly after stuntman John Bernecker was killed, after falling more than 20 feet onto a concrete floor.[6] Production resumed on July 17.[vii] The season premiere, which also serves equally the series' milestone 100th episode, was directed by executive producer Greg Nicotero.[viii]

In November 2017, information technology was announced that Lennie James who portrays Morgan Jones, would exist leaving The Walking Dead afterward the conclusion of this season, and would join the cast of the spin-off serial Fear the Walking Dead for its fourth flavor.[nine] The eighth flavour also features the departures of series regulars Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes), Steven Ogg (Simon), and Austin Amelio (Dwight). Riggs' terminal episode is the mid-flavour premiere where his character is killed off, which is a deviation from the comic book, where his character is still live. His death received negative reactions from critics and fans.[x] Ogg's last episode is the penultimate episode of the flavor, where his character is killed by Negan.[11] Amelio departed the serial after the flavour finale, and in January 2019, it was confirmed he would bring together the cast of Fright the Walking Dead.[12]

The first trailer for the season was released on July 21, 2017 at the San Diego Comic-Con. The second trailer was released on February one, 2018 for the second role of the season.[29]

On March 15, 2018, it was announced that the flavour finale and the fourth season premiere of Fearfulness the Walking Expressionless would be screened at AMC, Regal, and Cinemark theaters across the United States on April fifteen, the same day equally the TV airing, for "Survival Dominicus: The Walking Dead & Fright the Walking Dead". The episodes marked the get-go crossover between the 2 series. The movie theatre screening also included an actress one-half-60 minutes of exclusive bonus content.[30]

The eighth flavour of The Walking Expressionless received mixed reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the season holds a score of 65% with an average rating of 6.65 out of 10 based on 17 reviews. The site'due south critical consensus reads: "The Walking Dead 's 8th season energizes its characters with some much-needed angst and action, though it'southward still occasionally choppy and lacking forrad-moving plot progression."[31]

For the 44th Saturn Awards, the eight season of The Walking Expressionless received 7 nominations, winning two. It won All-time Horror Telly Series and All-time Functioning by a Younger Actor in a Idiot box Series (Chandler Riggs).[i] The nominations were for Best Actor on Television (Andrew Lincoln), Best Supporting Thespian on Television (Khary Payton), Best Supporting Extra on Television (Danai Gurira and Melissa McBride), and Best Guest Starring Part on Telly (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).[32]

The first half of the season was nominated for Outstanding Operation by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series at the 24th Screen Actors Guild Awards.[33]
